Marcus Reistad (b. 1991 in Gjøvik) is currently based in Gothenburg where he is studying a Bachelor in Fine Art at HDK-Valand. His interests revolve around the study of geographical and environmental narratives, masculinity and psychology. This is expressed through photography, video and text. Reistad has previously shown works at Arendal Kunstforening, Centrum för Fotografi (Stockholm) and Rotterdam Photo Festival.
The work Dobbeltspill (Double Dealing) explores concepts with symbol-heavy connotations such as power, games and power games. Games are play, but can also be a platform for testing each other's boundaries, where play could instead slip into violence. The video is a staging of two common games from junior high school, an exploration of how the images function as symbols and what emotions they can evoke in the viewer; for the outsider or for those who can identify themselves in it.
